The brief
Every year, Muziekschool Amsterdam and Muziekschool Amsterdam Noord produce an annual report. This way, stakeholders such as the municipality understand what was achieved each year and to what extent the objectives have been met. In previous years, the annual report appeared in PDF format, but Strangelove and Muziekschool Amsterdam decided on a digital version for 2021. After all, it was a very non-conventional and special year: despite lockdowns and other Covid-19 perils, Muziekschool Amsterdam succeeded (partly thanks to digital technology) to offer high-quality music education.
The answer
We opted for a multimedia annual report where we used different types of content to provide insight into how Muziekschool Amsterdam has bravely handled 'corona year' 2021. We made a flashy introductory trailer based on existing video material of online lessons and rehearsals. In addition, we created a video in which the directors of Muziekschool Amsterdam and Muziekschool Amsterdam Noord look back on the year, and a video in which students and teachers talk about their 2021. Based on annual figures, data and interviews with various people within the organization, we also wrote the copy for the annual report and we collected other content (such as visual material). In collaboration with our partner Plate, we designed a website where all this content is playfully and interactively accessible.
