Collaboration is an everyday practice for International School Almere, where the Primary and Secondary divisions not only share the same campus but also their values and ambitions. A new communication strategy illuminates the unique nature of this collaboration.
The Brief
International School Almere asked Strangelove to structure and support the internal and external communication of the school at a time of major change. Coming together for the first time in a brand new campus, the Primary and Secondary divisions suddenly gained new facilities, new colleagues, and new perspectives which required some direction. How can these two divisions be unified under one shared goal and vision, to be echoed across the ISAlmere atmosphere?
The Answer
We conducted a workshop with the 70+ team to understand their concerns and ideas. We also researched ISAlmere’s positioning as an international school competing with larger expat hubs like Amsterdam or Utrecht.
We introduced a new school proposition: “The world is here–An international school that sees the world is every person.” We wrote a new school story based on this insight, highlighting intercultural exchange. We developed and produced a series of lighthearted videos, which brought together teachers and students to answer some unexpected questions about their daily life. Lastly, we designed a “Welcome Guide” booklet: a brief introduction to school life, fun facts, values, quotes and educational vision.
The unified brand proposition, and new, friendly communication assets are the first step in this new chapter for ISAlmere. These provide clear direction on the identity of the school and how it presents itself to internal and external stakeholders. The strengthened sense of meaning, belonging and pride are the way forward!
